Bach leads sports community tributes to former Japan PM Abe

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach has led the international sports community’s tributes to former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated in the Japanese city of Kashihara earlier today (Friday).

Bach said Japan’s hosting of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which were held in Tokyo last year following a 12-month postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, would not have been possible without Abe.
