Internet giant Yahoo Sports has officially launched a new online sports betting platform in New Jersey.
‘Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM’ integrates odds for various sports on the Yahoo Sports app and allows users of legal age to place bets via BetMGM’s mobile sports betting app.
The move follows a recently-announced wide-ranging agreement with US-based sports betting company BetMGM to allow betting on the Yahoo platform and to work together on content and live events.
The exclusive ‘multi-year’ agreement affords the Verizon Media-owned Yahoo Sports the title of the official Digital Media Sports Partner of MGM Resorts, the operator of leading casinos, entertainment venues and hotels.
The Yahoo Sportsbook is currently focused on launching in states which allow full remote mobile sports betting, which is just New Jersey for now. According to a press release, it will “soon become available to fans in other states where sports betting is legal”.
Users in the United States outside of New Jersey will still be able to see odds listed in Yahoo Sportsbook but will not be allowed to place bets. There is a promotional offer in New Jersey, where users can claim $100 in free bets with a $10 deposit.
