Uzbekistan and Bahrain have been appointed the respective hosts of the Asian Football Confederation Under-19 and Under-16 Championships, both taking place in 2020.
The countries were appointed yesterday at the first meeting of the AFC Competitions Committee’s 2019-23 cycle, which was chaired by Dr Tran Quoc Tuan, a vice-president at the confederation.
The under-19 tournament in Uzbekistan will be played between October 14 and 31, 2020 while the under-16 championship in Bahrain will take place between September 16 and October 3.
The Competitions Committee also announced that the AFC Solidarity Cup, which provides competitive matches for the confederation’s bottom-10-ranked countries – the six eliminated in the first round of the Joint Asian Qualifiers and the bottom four teams in the second round – will be played between November 30, 2020 and December 13, 2020, after the final round of qualifiers for the 2023 Asian Cup is concluded.
It was also announced that the match days of the 2020 AFC Champions League Round-of-16 in the West Zone will be moved from May 25/26 and June 15/16 to May 18/19 and May 25/26, 2020.
