Australian Professional Leagues (APL), the managing body of Australian professional football’s elite A-Leagues, has announced its current managing director Danny Townsend will transition to the role of full-time chief executive in the first half of 2022, relinquishing his parallel role as CEO of club side Sydney FC.

Townsend joined the APL at the beginning of the year as the commercial, marketing and operational management of Australia’s men’s A-League and women’s W-League passed from national federation Football Australia to the newly-formed organisation.
