Spanish electrical and utility company Endesa has extended its partnership with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) to become the main sponsor of the country’s women’s league.
Spanish sports news website Palco23 reports the company will assume title sponsorship of the competition, which has already begun its 2019-20 season. The Endesa logo has been visible throughout the first two rounds of matches.
The duration of the extension has not been revealed, but in 2018 the pair renewed its long-standing partnership to 2021.
Since 2011, this has incorporated the title sponsorship of the FEB’s premier men’s league. Palco23 reports that this contract runs to 2022 and is worth close to €5m per year.
In the same year, Endesa became the NBA’s Official Energy Partner in Spain.
It also has an agreement to sponsor basketball’s Euroleague and Eurocup until 2021 and has been extensively involved with Spain’s national basketball teams. The Endesa logo has been featured on the front of the men’s and women’s teams’ kits.
The Madrid-based business has previously displayed ambitions to extend the association with the sport to Spain’s women’s domestic league.
In 2017, they lost out on the main sponsorship of the Women’s league to Spanish supermarket chain DIA. The new deal now sees Endesa replace DIA.
