Sony Pictures Networks India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises have signed definitive agreements to merge Zee "with and into" Sony, following three months of mutual due diligence.
The merger, subject to regulatory, shareholder and third-party approvals, will create an entertainment giant capable, the two entities believe, of taking on established rivals such as Disney-owned Star India and new digital players such as Netflix.
