Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), is seeking greater financial support from the Spanish Government to aid its bid to host the 2030 edition of the Fifa World Cup.

Earlier this week, the Government approved a funding package of €7.5m ($8m) for Spain’s bid, which also incorporates Portugal and Ukraine. The RFEF is playing the leading role in the bid, with the funds to go towards the preparation and development of the candidacy.
