Bundesliga football club FSV Mainz 05 has renewed its partnership with German brewery Bitburger.
The association between the two organisations, which are both based in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany, dates back to 2013 and will continue until the end of the 2021-22 season.
As part of the deal, the brand receives exclusive serving rights at the Opel Arena, where Mainz plays its home matches. In addition, it gains an extensive package of advertising assets.
Marco Boor, head of sponsoring at Bitburger, explained how the agreement would also involve a commitment to sustainability.
He said: “The club is known as the first climate-neutral Bundesliga club, and we will be producing our products at the brewery site in a climate-neutral manner from the end of 2020.”
Mainz’s sponsorship portfolio is headlined by its main sponsorship contract with windows and doors systems brand Profine and its stadium naming rights holder German automotive manufacturer.
The Infront agency recently renewed its exclusive agreement with the club to sell sponsorship and pitchside advertising rights, along with hospitality packages. The early renewal extends the contract by six years until the end of the 2030-31 season.
The Bundesliga outfit brought Infront on board in 2015-16 in an initial ten-year agreement as Mainz swapped its in-house model for an agency agreement.
