London 2012 drops plans for £42m Greenwich venue

The government and the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, agreed that badminton and rhythmic gymnastics at the 2012 Olympics should be moved to Wembley Arena to avoid building a new £42 million temporary venue on the Greenwich peninsula.
