French online betting operator Betclic has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with France’s Professional Football League (LFP).
Betclic becomes the official sports betting platform of the top-tier Ligue 1 and second-tier Ligue 2 in a contract running from 2020-21 to 2022-23.
The LFP’s latest sponsor is to initiate various physical, online and social media activations with fans next season.
Betclic is the former shirt sponsor of Ligue 1 sides Lyon and Marseille.
The LFP said that the sponsorship “confirms the attractiveness of the new digital platforms of both competitions and offers interesting opportunities to recruit and engage new fans on digital platforms, especially 18-to-35 year-olds”.
The league launched new websites for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 at the end of January.
The addition of the betting sponsor comes with both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 to adopt new title sponsors from 2020-21 onwards.
Food delivery service Uber Eats is the new title sponsor of Ligue 1 in a two-year deal reportedly worth €15m ($16.8m) per season, replacing home furnishings retail chain Conforama.
Indian specialist tyre company BKT becomes the Ligue 2 title sponsor in a deal running from 2020-21 to 2023-24 and worth between €2m and €2.5m per year. BKT follows on from pizza delivery company Domino’s Pizza in the role of title sponsor.
New logos for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 were unveiled last month as the new title sponsors come on board.
