Leaders Meet: The Game Changers returns for second edition

Leaders has announced that Leaders Meet: The Game Changers will return for a second edition following the success of its inaugural event last year.

The first edition saw British tennis coach Judy Murray, Olympic skeleton medallist Lizzy Yarnold and Brooklyn Nets president Irina Pavlova take to the stage at the event, which showcased world class examples of growing audiences and fan bases for women’s sports, driving participation, connecting with female consumers and highlighting the challenges female executives face in careers in sport.

The second edition of Leaders Meet: The Game Changers will take place on October 7 at Stamford Bridge in London, home of English Premier League football club Chelsea, as part of the Leaders Week.

The invite-only event is officially supported by UK pay-television broadcaster Sky Sports and Chelsea. The speaker line up so far includes, Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports; Richard Clark, marketing director of boohoo.com; and Rosie Underwood, style director at OK! Magazine. It will see 300 senior figures from around the world come together to discuss topics including:

• The importance of women to global sport
• How brands target and interact with women through sport
• The growth and development of women’s sport
• The evolving media coverage of women’s sport
• Engaging and marketing to female fans
• Opportunities for women to reach and succeed at the top of the sports industry

James Worrall, chief executive and founder of Leaders, said: “This high profile event was incredibly successful in 2015, with game changing conversations, debates, panels, and issues being addressed by some of the most influential women in sport. This topic is something we feel passionate about here at Leaders and from the overwhelming feedback and support we gained from the last event, we knew we had to build on this, and continue to contribute to the global dialogue around this subject. The international gathering of senior men and women who attend this thought provoking summit will be the people who move the sports industry forward.”

Senior executives from the following organisations are already confirmed to attend: BBC, NBA, City Football Group, FC Porto, Manchester United, Fifa, NFL, Invictus Games, All England Lawn Tennis Club, Australian Paralympic Committee, Brentford FC, British Rowing, Discovery Communications, England Basketball, Formula E, Fox Sports, Harlequins FC, Manchester City, Leicester Tigers, Mercedes AMG F1, Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation, World Rugby, Sport England, Volleyball England, Women in Racing and Welsh Rugby Union.
