Irish soccer federations team up to bid for 2023 U21 European Championships

The Dublin-based Football Association of Ireland and Belfast-based Irish Football Association have launched a bid to host the Uefa Under-21 European Championships in 2023.

The two federations issued statements on Thursday and say they will file a formal bid with Uefa next year. The proposals include plans to use rugby venues north and south of the border as potential venues for the tournament.

The FAI and the four British Soccer federations (including Northern Ireland) are also exploring a joint bid to host the Fifa World Cup in 2030.
