Football Australia has withdrawn from the bidding process for the hosting rights to the 2023 AFC Asian Cup but maintains an interest in staging the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the federation has announced.

Football Australia was one of four federations, along with the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Korea Football Association (KFA) and Qatar Football Association (QFA), to express an interest in hosting the pan-regional tournament after the Chinese Football Association (CFA) relinquished its rights due to the pandemic.
