Estonian television and radio network operator Levira has teamed up with AI-automated sports production firm Pixellot to produce and live-stream coverage of Estonian and Latvian basketball competitions.

From this season, all games from the men’s and women’s domestic leagues in the two countries will be broadcast on television and streamed online.

Levira and Pixellot have partnered with the Estonian and Latvian basketball associations on the long-term production agreement.

The deal includes coverage of the Paf Estonian-Latvian Basketball League games, the Women’s Baltic League Elite and International Division games. Fixtures from lower-tier Estonian leagues will also be broadcast via telecommunications company Telia TV.

Twenty Pixellot Prime systems are being deployed at basketball arenas across Estonia and Latvia to prepare for the coverage.

Edgars Bērziņš, director of Latvian Basketball Leagues, said: “We are excited to be the first sports organisation in Latvia to partner up with an automated camera solution provider. This will bring the visibility of Latvian club basketball to a level never seen before and offer the clubs tools to improve their communication platforms, as well as coaching tools and an instant replay system for the referees.”

Levira will launch its first broadcasts on the Telia Live channel next month before games move to a new Inspira channel from 2020.
