Atrium Sports recruits Blaszczak to commercial role

Atrium Sports, the automated video and data sports production company, has recruited Robert Blaszczak as its commercial operations director.

Blaszczak, who worked for sports data and live streaming company Genius Sports between 2016 and 2019, joins Atrium after a spell working in an advisory and consultancy capacity in the sports business and technology space.

Blaszczak, a former journalist and football presenter in Poland, also spent three and a half years at the Sportsman Media Group, the agency taken over by Sportradar in 2016. In his role as sports media rights manager at the Sportsman, he distributed rights to the likes of LaLiga, the Bundesliga, basketball’s Euroleague and volleyball’s CEV Champions League.

Atrium Sports offers the ‘Keemotion’ automated video production technology after last year merging with the company of the same name. Along with enabling the live streaming of matches, Atrium also offers graphics overlays and commentary to rights-holders looking to establish or develop their broadcast platform.

One of the company’s flagship deals is its work with Fiba, basketball’s international federation, on the ‘Fiba Connected Stadium’ initiative. That tie-up gives national basketball federations and leagues access to Atrium’s Keemotion technology to live stream matches.

Atrium also recently struck a deal to acquire US-based sports analytics firm Synergy Sports Technology, whose biggest investor is Mark Cuban, billionaire owner of NBA basketball franchise the Dallas Mavericks.

Synergy Sports is the dominant global provider of data and video analytics tools for the NBA, MLB and college basketball and baseball. Atrium said the deal, which Bloomberg reported to be worth close to $90m (€82m), will accelerate its expansion strategy and strengthen its end-to-end technology solution offering globally.
