Esports organisation Activision Blizzard has signed a contract with the US-based sports marketing agency Excel Sports Management to support its sponsorship sales process.
The two organisations will work in collaboration to sell the sponsorship rights to Activision Blizzard’s esports properties, namely its Overwatch League and Call of Duty League.
A central focus will be introducing both endemic and non-endemic new categories to the team’s sponsorship portfolio and signing brands keen to foster the relationship between major sports properties and esports.
Jason Miller, senior vice-president and head of properties at Excel Sports Management, said: “Our team is well positioned to provide the necessary strategic guidance brands across the world need to ensure their presence is authentic and meaningful to this critical growing audience.”
The agency was also recently signed by NBA franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves to support the process of securing a new sleeve patch sponsor.
