The management of Australia's professional men's and women's football leagues is passing from Football Australia to newly-formed body Australian Professional Leagues.
In what could be a defining moment in the development of football in the country, the releasing of the two professional leagues - the men's A-League and the women's W-League - from the control of the national federation will see the Australian football structure fall in line with global best practice.
