Among the winners was banking group Barclays “Spaces for Sports” campaign, which has seen it invest £37 million since 2004 in developing grassroots sports facilities in deprived areas around the world.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Barclays Spaces for Sports has been recognised with this award,” said Hannah Willis, Associate Director for Global Community Investment at Barclays. “We’re particularly pleased that, since the programme was extended globally in 2008, we’re now achieving recognition on a global scale for the work being done to revitalise disadvantaged communities and tackle key social issues.”
