The agreement is includes a rights fee payment as well as a commitment by Olympus America to buy advertising during US Open television broadcasts, according to US media reports.
"This is a milestone. This is really a pivotal deal for the US Open Series and for the sport," said Arlen Kantarian, the USTA's CEO for professional tennis. "When you begin to attract corporate America to your sport, it's a sign of doing something right. It's a sign of growth."
Olympus America, a subsidiary of Japan-based Olympus Corp., already has sponsorship deals with the US Open tournament and the US Open Series in an agreement set to expire after 2008.
