As part of this broad partnership, the NBA and FIBA will work with BOCOG on the presentation of basketball in the Wukesong Basketball Arena and consultation on other sports event presentations. The NBA will utilise its sports presentation expertise to incorporate the Olympic image into entertainment elements that have Chinese characteristics and international appeal.
This cooperation also calls for the exchange, training and sharing of best practices from all parties. The NBA will train local personnel on all aspects of sports presentation that will include technical requirements for audio and visual production, and interactive on-court entertainment, among other elements.
“We are working with the best international organisations in our relentless effort to provide fans around the world with an unforgettable experience,” said Mr Zhao Dongming, Director of Culture and Ceremonies Department, BOCOG. “Basketball will be one of the showcase events of the Beijing Olympic Games. The NBA’s ability to engage fans is internationally recognized and their expertise will make the already dramatic competition even more entertaining.”
“We are honoured to cooperate with BOCOG and FIBA to showcase basketball around the world and will strive to achieve the best sports presentation for the Beijing 2008 Olympics,” said Mr. Fischer, NBA China Vice President and Managing Director. “The Wukesong Basketball Arena will provide a magnificent setting for the competition and for Chinese sports enthusiasts long after the Olympic Games.”
FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann said, “we want to provide a memorable in-arena experience to the fans, motivate them to support our athletes and make the basketball competition one of the hottest sports at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.”
