USOC UNVEILS CHINA TRAINING CENTRE

The US Olympic Committee has confirmed it is to spend $500,000 on establishing a training centre in China ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

USOC chiefs confirmed the high-performance centre at the Beijing Normal University which will accommodate 400 athletes.

Said Steve Roush, USOC's chief of sport performance:

“This complex will establish a base for our athletes to prepare in their final stages prior to competition.

“It allows the US Olympic athletes to train in conditions that are conducive for high performance and it provides the comforts of home with great facilities, good restaurants and sleeping space for our team before the Games.”
