The UK’s Sunday Times newspaper reports the two are set to be selected as “tier-one” sponsors, joining Lloyds TSB which is also rumoured to have been selected.
Tier-one sponsors are expected to have to pay £80m for the privilege of sponsoring the Games. If LOCOG, the Local Organising Committee, has indeed selected three of its six tier-one partners, it would be ahead of schedule and on course to achieve the biggest sponsorship income in Olympic history.
