OLYMPICS SET FOR MORE KEY SPONSORS

Petroleum company BP and telecoms company BT are reported to be close to being named as the next two big corporate sponsors of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The UK’s Sunday Times newspaper reports the two are set to be selected as “tier-one” sponsors, joining Lloyds TSB which is also rumoured to have been selected.

Tier-one sponsors are expected to have to pay £80m for the privilege of sponsoring the Games. If LOCOG, the Local Organising Committee, has indeed selected three of its six tier-one partners, it would be ahead of schedule and on course to achieve the biggest sponsorship income in Olympic history.
