Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) expects to generate roughly $6m (€5.9m) from the Asia Cup despite the tournament being relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the cricket board’s chief executive has announced.

Ashley de Silva said the board expects to receive $2.5m in hosting fees, $1.5m in ticketing revenues and a $2m redistribution payment as a result of the tournament. In addition, de Silva said the board is no longer liable for the costs of organising the tournament, which would have been about $2.5m, following its move to the UAE.
