Boston sets up committee for 2024 Olympic bid
The Massachusetts House of Representatives has passed legislation to create an 11-member committee examine the feasibility of hosting the 2024 summer Olympics in Boston.
The privately-funded commission will investigate factors such as costs, infrastructure, transportation and security, according to a Boston University news publication.
The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) invited 35 cities to consider hosting the 2024 event, and will shortlist bidding cities to two or three by December 2014 ahead of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s final selection in 2017.
US capital city Washington also created an Olympic committee earlier this year in August ahead of its proposed bid to host the 2024 Games.
