The World Tennis Challenge Pty Ltd., has appointed IEC in Sports to
handle worldwide television distribution for the new World Tennis
Challenge Open, a four nation tournament featuring one current ATP
player and one legend player on each team, for three years, from 2009
to 2011.

CEO of IEC in Sports, Jonas Persson, said: “IEC intends to broaden the appeal of what is shaping up to be the biggest tennis event leading up to the Australian Open. Other enhancements include maximising the number of matches on the international feed, sourcing world-class English commentators and expanding live transmission across Australasia, Asia and into Europe and the Americas”.
The World Tennis Challenge is a team competition between the four top tennis playing countries of Australia, Sweden, USA and France, featuring one current player and one past legend player from each country. The legends will play each other followed by the current players and then all four players will take the court for action.  The World Tennis Challenge will be hosted over three nights at the Memorial Drive with two matches being played simultaneously on centre court. The tournament will take place from January 14 to 16, 2009.
