WrestleMania XXIV sets revenue record

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) set both attendance and ticket sale records for WrestleMania XXIV at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando last weekend.

WWE grossed more than $5.85 million in ticket sales, making it the highest grossing live event in WWE history and in the history of the Citrus Bowl.

WWE set an attendance record for the Citrus Bowl with 74,635 fans from all over the world injecting up to $30 million into the local economy, the WWE claimed. The WWE's annual pay-per-view show was also televised to more than 100 countries.

During the event, WBC Welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather entered the ring against ‘Big Show’ in a match up reportedly worth around $20 million to the boxer.
