The imminent £450 million takeover of English Premier League club Liverpool could lead to the introduction of a wage cap with concerns that such takeovers will widen the gap between a handful of super-rich clubs and the rest.
UEFA communications director William Gaillard said, “there is no doubt that the immediate threat in the short-term is a huge increase in the gap between the haves and the have nots.”
