Soccerex has labelled Rio government’s claims about the body failing to secure funding as the reason for cancelling the Soccerex Global Convention as “false and misleading”.

The 2013 Soccerex Global Convention, scheduled to start on November 30 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, was cancelled last night.

Russian 2018 FIFA World Cup stakeholders have agreed to participate at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention in Rio from November 30 to December 5.

Soccerex has renewed a global partnership with independent insurance brokerage firm Lockton until 2018.

The Soccerex Global Convention in Brazil has been moved to Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium, venue of the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.

The Soccerex African Forum has confirmed speakers Senegal Professional Football League president Saer Seck, Kenyan Premier League CEO Jack Oguda and SuperSport African sports and commercial director Stanley Matthews.

Soccerex has confirmed South African minister of sport Fikile Mbalula as a speaker at the opening ceremony of its 2013 African Forum.
