LOSSES WIDEN BUT SHARES SOAR AT ARENA LEISURE
Arena Leisure, one of the three companies behind the Go Racing consortium, said today that pre-tax losses for the nine months to December 31 widened to #6.2m ($8.9m) from #2.96m ($4.24m). It also reported an increase in losses per share to 2.29p from 1.21p. But confirmation that it is to become a 33.33 percent shareholder in Go Racing saw its share price rise by nearly 10 percent to 104p.
FIRST QUARTER EARNINGS RISE AT NTL
NTL, the UK?s largest cable telecoms company which boasts 8.5m subscribers and has a 10 percent stake in English Premiership soccer clubs Newcastle United, Leicester City and Aston Villa, said earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation rose by about 32 percent to $124m for the three months to March 31 compared with the previous quarter.
