The Premier League said it has concluded deals with overseas broadcasters in 81 separate blocs, covering 208 countries, worth £625 million. That is in addition to its £1.7 billion domestic TV deal with Sky and Setanta signed last May. Under the domestic deals BSkyB is paying £1.3 billion for its four packages of games and Setanta £392 million for its two.
Since then the league has also added £400 million from internet and mobile phone rights lifting the total domestic figure to £2.1 billion.
The value of the overseas rights more than doubled the £300 million the league brings in under its present contract, underlining its ever-growing popularity abroad.
