The substance was discovered as a result of anonymous e-mail sent to WADA, reports aroundtherings.com
No athletes have so far been associated with use of the new drug which WADA’s scientific chief says was created solely as a performance enhancing substance.
Christiane Ayotte, director of the Montreal drug testing lab, says the drug can have adverse physical effects. She says its performance-enhancing effects are still not known and that tests are underway to discover why it would have value to an athlete.
Testing of samples from the Athens Olympics has apparently not revealed any use of the drug at the Games.
WADA says information about the new drug is being released before it becomes widely used.
