Sky Sports Racing secures rights to French events

Sky Sports Racing, which is set to become the new identity for pay-television channel At The Races, has acquired exclusive rights in the UK and Ireland to a host of French horse-racing properties.

The three-year deal will run from January 1, 2019 until the end of 2021. The agreement was announced by At The Races and PMU, an economic interest group composed of 58 racing associations and also a leading betting operator in Europe.

At The Races will become PMU’s online video streaming provider in the UK and Ireland as the latter launches a full daily service of over 10,000 live French thoroughbred and trotting races to the UK and Irish online betting markets.

At The Races chief executive Matthew Imi said: “Sky Sports Racing will provide consistent, live broadcast coverage of French fixtures with all relevant betting information and presentation crews regularly live on site at French racecourses. Attheraces.com will deliver in depth and comprehensive online coverage of French racing to the largest digital audience of racing fans in the UK and Ireland. In addition, Sport Mediastream, ATR’s wholly owned video streaming platform, will make every one of PMU’s 10,000 French thoroughbred and trotting races available live to online betting operators in the UK and Ireland for the first time.”
