Media partners renew e-Ligue 1 agreements

The Ligue de Football Professionnel, which operates the French football league, has renewed rights deals with pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports and online media company Webedia for coverage of e-Ligue 1, a nationwide esports competition.

The renewal will cover two seasons, from 2017-18 to 2018-19.

BeIN Sports and Webedia showed coverage of the inaugural 2016-17 edition of the tournament, which attracted 30,000 players, representing top-tier Ligue 1’s 20 clubs.

BeIN Sports will continue to provide coverage of e-Ligue 1 on Monday evenings.

The new e-Ligue 1 season will begin in October, several weeks after the release of the new Fifa 18 video game.

The LFP also confirmed that telecommunications company Orange would retain its title sponsorship of e-Ligue 1 for the same two-year period.
