Washington Nationals sign expanded deal with PenFed

Major League Baseball team the Washington Nationals has renewed its partnership with PenFed Credit Union, a leading federal credit union in the US.

The new three-year agreement will designate a new ‘PenFed Military Appreciation Section’ at the team’s Nationals Park stadium.

The section will be located in right field at Nationals Park and will result in the launch of a Tickets for Troops program, which will provide military members with a select number of complimentary tickets for all regular-season games at the stadium.

Active duty, veterans, retired and DOD-civilians can claim tickets online and pick them up on the day of the game. The initiative began yesterday (Tuesday) with the Nationals’ home game against the New York Yankees.

PenFed will receive further brand exposure through a permanent outfield wall sign, home plate rotational signage and digital signage. The company will also sponsor the PenFed Kids’ Fun Zone and give away promotional items in the new Appreciation Section. The partnership will be promoted online using the #PenFedSelfie hashtag.

Alan Gottlieb, chief operating officer of Lerner Sports, which owns the Nationals, said: “Expanding our partnership with PenFed makes perfect sense given our shared commitment to both honouring members of the military and their families and serving the greater Washington, D.C. community.

“The Washington Nationals strive to provide the best fan experience in sports and the enhanced kids play area and military ticket program announced today will both significantly add to our ballpark's exciting game day atmosphere.”
