Title sponsor renews with ITTF Women’s World Cup

Chinese food products manufacturer Uncle Pop has extended its title sponsorship of the International Table Tennis Federation’s Women’s World Cup.

The new three-year deal will cover the 2018 to 2020 editions of the tournament. Uncle Pop will also continue to serve as the event’s official snack food.

The deal comes after Uncle Pop title sponsored last year’s Women’s World Cup in Markham, Canada, which was won by Chinese star Zhu Yuling. Zhu (pictured) and Ding Ning have also signed on as Uncle Pop brand ambassadors.

Both the 2018 and 2019 tournaments will take place in Chengdu in China, Uncle Pop’s home market. This year’s event, which runs from September 29-30, will feature 20 of the world’s best players.

ITTF president Thomas Weikert said: “The partnership is a great fit for both parties, and being a global sport, we could definitely help Uncle Pop on their journey of the internalisation of Chinese snack foods. We look forward to working with Uncle Pop to bring the Women’s World Cup to great new heights.”

Yang Xiaoyong, chairman of Uncle Pop, added: “This series of brand activations is Uncle Pop’s new explorations in their journey of brand growth. It also expresses our determination to go to the world and take responsibility for the internationalisation of Chinese snack foods.”

The World Cup is one of three tournaments that count towards the table tennis grand slam, along with the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
