French IT services company Atos is set to become the first ever sponsor of the new European Championships after being named as the preferred bidder for timing, scoring and results for events being staged in Glasgow, Scotland, during the inaugural edition of the multi-sport event in 2018.
Subject to formal procurement procedures, the Glasgow 2018 local organising committee intends to appoint Atos to provide services for cycling, golf, gymnastics, and triathlon, all of which will take place in the city.
The deal also includes an integrated package of television graphics for highlights across all sports.
Berlin will also host events during the 2018 Championships, with the German capital to stage athletics contests. Glasgow is also due to host and aquatics and rowing events at the inaugural event.
Atos already serves as the worldwide IT partner of the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee.
