World Rally Championship stays on course with Michelin

French tyre manufacturer Michelin has extended its deal as an official supplier to the World Rally Championship until the end of the motor racing series’ 2016 season.

Michelin has partnered WRC since replacing Italian rival Pirelli in 2011. Under the fresh terms, Michelin will benefit from an increased branding presence at WRC stages and across the series’ coverage on television and its digital channels.

Michelin will also continue to use WRC content in its own promotions. The financial terms of the renewal were not disclosed.

Pascal Couasnon, Michelin’s motorsport director, said: “This extension of our partnership with WRC was a logical step for us to take. The FIA World Rally Championship offers an authentic environment for Michelin to demonstrate the quality and endurance of our tyres, often under the most extreme conditions.

“This cooperation also facilitates a significant global media visibility throughout almost the entire year. In 2013, more than 600 million fans worldwide followed the WRC on TV and more than three million visited the rallies on site. These numbers speak for themselves and we are waiting for other improvement.”
