Verizon set for college sports focus with new mobile video service

US telecommunications company Verizon is to launch a new mobile over-the-top service that will offer customers access to live coverage of college sports.

Verizon said the service will commence later this year, with content supplied by various providers of college sports programming and networks focused on millennial viewers.

The ACC Digital Network, the official digital video network of the Atlantic Coast Conference, will provide coverage such as live events and game highlights.

Campus Insiders, a premium digital video network for college sports, will offer content such as live events, highlights and classic games from direct partnerships with college sports properties such as the ACC, Big 12, Mountain West, West Coast Conference, Patriot League and A-10.

In addition, the new 120 Sports digital sports channel operated by US media group Time will provide content such as live and on-demand news, highlights and analysis.

Meanwhile, pay-television broadcaster CBS Sports Network will provide coverage of various major college games. Sports broadcaster ESPN will also offer select college American football and basketball games, as well as college sports documentaries.
