Under Armour replaces Dryworld as Fluminense partner

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Fluminense has entered into a kit partnership with US sportswear manufacturer Under Armour.

The three-year agreement becomes effective on July 21 and names Under Armour as Fluminense’s new official supplier of sports equipment.

Under Armour will be responsible for supplying all of the team’s game, training and travel wear, as well as kit for Fluminense’s other sports teams.

“Fluminense is one of the clubs that best symbolises victory and tradition in Brazilian sport and has some of the most passionate fans in football,” Bruno Abilel, chief executive of Under Armour in Brazil, said.

“Not only that, but also because it supports the same values that inspire Under Armour – discipline and the constant search for evolution in sports performance. For all these reasons, it will be a fundamental partner in the new moment of expansion of the brand in the country.”

Under Armour will replace Canadian apparel provider Dryworld as Fluminense’s kit partner.

Dryworld agreed a five-year deal with Fluminense in January 2016 but the club has opted to end the partnership early. According to the Maquina do Esporte website, the club chose to terminate the deal due to delays in payments and the delivery of kit.

In recent months, Dryworld has seen similar agreements with fellow Serie A teams Atlético Mineiro and Goiás come to an end. Both clubs have replaced Dryworld with Brazilian sportswear brand Topper.
