US sportswear company Under Armour has signed its first partnership with an English Premiership rugby union club after agreeing a multi-year deal with Wasps.
Under the deal, Under Armour will replace UK sportswear brand Kukri as Wasps’ official technical-wear partner ahead of the team’s new kit launch in the summer.
Wasps become the first Premiership club to secure a deal with Under Armour, with the company holding existing partnerships with the Welsh Rugby Union and French Top 14 giants Clermont Auvergne.
Under Armour will develop training wear and match day performance apparel for both the first team and academy squads. The partnership also includes commercial marketing rights and in-stadium signage.
Under Armour become the seventh new partner in the past year to sign with Wasps as it seeks to become the biggest revenue-generating club in world rugby union.
David Armstrong, Wasps group chief executive, said: “This partnership is hugely significant for Wasps and reflects the progress made by the club in the last nine months, commercially as well as on the pitch, as we aim to build one of the most aspirational groups of partners in professional rugby.”
