Mercedes teams up with Schuberth

German helmet manufacturer Schuberth has signed a multi-year agreement to become an official supplier of the Mercedes Formula One motor racing team.

The partnership is effective from the 2015 season, with Schuberth having worked alongside Mercedes to develop a new helmet designed to protect the team’s crew members during pit stops.

The helmet will debut at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 12-15, while Schuberth will also make the model available for retail as a piece of high-end winter sports equipment later this year.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 F1 drivers’ championship from team-mate Nico Rosberg, meaning the team was also able to secure the constructors’ championship.
