L’Equipe 21 snaps up Champions Hockey League rights

French digital-terrestrial television channel L’Equipe 21 has acquired rights for the Champions Hockey League, the new European ice hockey club tournament that gets underway today (Thursday) in Czech Republic.

The length of the deal with the Infront Sports & Media agency was not disclosed.

Infront said that L’Equipe 21’s coverage, aside from being shown in France, will also be available in “French overseas territories as well as in several other countries around the world including Australia, New Zealand and Venezuela.”

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, the coverage will begin tonight with live and exclusive coverage of French champion Briançon’s game against Austrian team Villach.
