The FIE, fencing’s global governing body, has signed a rights and content distribution agreement with multi-lingual and multi-national news broadcaster Euronews.
The deal will run for three years, from 2014-15 to 2016-17.
Euronews will broadcast highlights of FIE events along with reports from competitions via the channel’s sports bulletins and digital platforms.
The deal includes an advertising campaign.
Euronews has a reach of 400 million households in 155 countries via cable, digital satellite and terrestrial windows.
Earlier this month the broadcaster struck a deal with SportAccord to provide regular coverage of the sports covered by the umbrella association for international federations and organisations. The FIE is a member of SportAccord.
