YuppTV signs wide-ranging IPL rights deal

OTT operator YuppTV has acquired exclusive digital and television rights in a host of markets to the 2018 season of Twenty20 cricket competition the Indian Premier League.

YuppTV has sublicensed the rights from pay-television broadcaster Star India, the global television and digital rights partner of the IPL.

YuppTV will hold exclusive rights in continental Europe, South America and countries in Southeast Asia, along with non-exclusive rights in Australia.

In September, Star was awarded global television and digital rights for the 2018 to 2022 editions of the IPL under an agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Star acquired all rights packages on offer to oust Sony Pictures Networks India as the main broadcaster of the competition.

Season 11 of the IPL will take place from April 7 to May 27.
