Yupp nicks Asia Cup cricket rights in Australia, New Zealand and Europe

YuppTV, a global OTT service aimed at the South Asian diaspora, has acquired rights to cricket’s Asia Cup 2018 in Australia, New Zealand and continental Europe.

YuppTV has acquired the rights in time for today’s match between India and Pakistan – the fiercest rivalry in international cricket. The Asia Cup also includes the national teams of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.

The six-team, one-day international tournament began on September 15, with the final scheduled for September 28.

Rights in India are held by pay-television broadcaster Star, while rights in Pakistan are held by pay-television broadcaster Ten Sports and public-service broadcaster PTV. Star-owned OTT platform Hotstar will exclusively show the tournament in the UK and US.
