Yonex ties up Australian Open extension

Japanese sports equipment manufacturer Yonex has agreed a multi-year extension to its partnership with tennis grand slam the Australian Open.

Yonex will continue to serve as the official Australian Open stringer, offering racquet stringing services in the qualifying, main draw singles, doubles, mixed doubles, wheelchair and junior events.

More than 5,000 racquets are expected to be strung over the event in Melbourne, with fans able to watch Yonex’s international stringing team in action at their base on the edge of Garden Square. Yonex will also provide activations for fans during the tournament.

“We look forward to taking advantage of our previous three years of experience as the official stringer to provide the highest calibre of stringing services to tennis players and fans worldwide,” Yonex executive officer of global marketing, Wataru Hirokawa, said.

“Yonex will offer five free restrings to every player per round to allow players to worry less about their gear and focus on performing their best. We are proud to play a vital role in keeping the Australian Open known as the Happy Slam by players and fans.
