WTCC extends with Moroccan partner ahead of season opener

Moroccan free-to-air broadcaster 2M has extended its long-running rights deal with motor racing series the World Touring Car Championship.

The new contract between 2M and WTCC promoter Eurosport Events will cover the forthcoming 2017 season, which commences with the Race of Morocco in Marrakech on April 7-9.

In addition to live coverage provided by Middle Eastern pay-television operator OSN, Moroccan fans will be offered free-to-air coverage, in French, by 2M.

This will include live opening race and main race coverage from all 10 events and live qualifying sessions across the season.

Morocco is a key market for the WTCC with local driver Mehdi Bennani expected to contend for the title this season.
