Vodafone to continue as shirt sponsor of Fiji’s rugby league team

The Fiji National Rugby League has extended its deal with telco Vodafone Fiji, the organisation’s main sponsor.

The new four-year deal will extend the two parties’ relationship to 15 years. Vodafone Fiji will sponsor the Fijian national team and the National Club Championship, as well as primary and secondary school rugby league programmes in the country.

As part of the new deal, Vodafone’s branding will continue to feature on the shirts of the national team, as well as on kit used during each of the tournaments it sponsors.

Fiji has reached the semi-finals of each of the last three Rugby League World Cups.

Vodafone’s head of eCommerce and corporate affairs, Shailendra Prasad, told The Jet newspaper: “Today, some 12 years on Vodafone still honours the bond with the sport and today we are to recommit to the sponsorship that has produced some of the world’s best players.

“We have displayed some of the biggest upsets at the world stage proving that we can compete with Tier 1 Nations.”
