Uefa charges Valencia over adidas logo usage

Spanish LaLiga football club Valencia has been charged by European governing body Uefa with a breach of its kit regulations following its Champions League game at Manchester United.

The match on Tuesday ended in a goalless draw, but Uefa subsequently opened multiple disciplinary proceedings against both teams.

Valencia has been hit with three charges, including kit infringement relating to Art 29 of the Uefa Kit Regulations. UK newspaper The Sun said this concerns the team wearing snoods emblazoned with the logo of kit partner adidas for the match.

Uefa regulations permit a manufacturer’s logos on playing shirts, shorts and socks as well as a sponsor on the playing shirt and warm-up top.

Clubs are allowed one sponsor’s logo on a training top, no larger than 200cm-squared, with a sponsor logo on a jacket permitted to maximum dimensions of 20cm-squared.

The case will be dealt with by the Uefa Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on October 18.
