UAE Team Emirates banks FAB deal ahead of Tour de France

UCI WorldTour cycling outfit UAE Team Emirates has agreed a jersey sponsorship deal with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) ahead of the start of the 2017 Tour de France.

Terms of the deal with the UAE’s largest bank were not disclosed, but it will become one of the main partners of UAE Team Emirates, where its logo will be placed on the centre and the sides of the team’s new jersey, starting from the 2017 Tour which commences in the German city of Dusseldorf tomorrow (Saturday).

FAB was formed earlier this year through a merger between First Gulf Bank and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi. The partnership will also advocate the bank’s new social movement, ‘Grow Stronger’, which focuses on supporting individuals, corporates and communities.

“We are investing our energies to create one of the most important cycling teams in the world and we are really proud to have First Abu Dhabi Bank on board,” UAE Team Emirates general manager Giuseppe Saronni said. “Both of our entities share the same values, and we are inspired to achieve important goals and grow together.”

Dubai-based airline Emirates signed a four-year deal to become the co-title sponsor of the WorldTour cycling team formerly known as Lampre-Merida, when it was officially unveiled in February.

The team also announced the signing of two other sponsors in the form of Abu Dhabi-based defence and security systems company International Golden Group and Forex and CFD trading firm ADS Securities.
